Air freight Volume Growth

Air freight volumes have risen again, according to World ACD data. August saw an increase of 12.9%, year-on-year, while direct tonne km rose 14.6%, and revealed that the average length between origin and destination keeps growing. Revenues were also healthy for airlines, rising more than 23% year-on-year, while yields rose $0.15, helped by the strengthening of the euro against the dollar. Asia-Pacific and Europe continue to dominate the growth trends, although France, Australia and the UAE are performing well below the average for 2017. South America and Indonesia, meanwhile, saw good growth. World ACD also provides information on separate products this month, for example, were up nearly 10% - but the Kenya to the Netherlands market has in fact contracted this year, by 1.6%. Always an interesting read.
